Today is Colorado Gives Day - We invite you to give where you live!

The new Colorado Technology Foundation (CTF) is managed by the Colorado Technology Association. CTF is raising funds to support initiatives which will foster the talent pipeline in the tech sector throughout the state. Colorado is at a critical juncture where the growth of technology jobs across sectors is accelerating, yet our ability to develop more IT leaders is not keeping up to demand in the marketplace. CTF exists to deliver on this talent building well into the future, fueling Colorado’s economy through technology by bridging companies to education, technology and workforce programs in Colorado. Learn more.

All donations made today for Colorado Gives Day will qualify for a boost from the FirstBank Incentive Fund. Additionally, 100% of the donation will come to the Colorado Technology Foundation. Schedule your donation now!
Join CTA staff in the community - Power Lunch: Building Relationships Through Reading
The School Partners Program through Mile High United Way and local businesses (big and small) are teaming up to help our early readers become strong readers by third grade. The staff at CTA invites you to join us in giving back by committing to the Power Lunch program for 2015.

Learn more here or watch a video about the program:

CTA is partnered with Greenlee Elementary School at 1150 Lipan St. The school is high need with 95% Free and Reduced Lunch.  We need about 40 volunteers to take on a classroom with volunteers being able to alternate each week. Sessions will most likely run on Fridays around the lunch hour.

Contact Wendy Nkomo with questions or to sign up at wendy@coloradotechnology.org or 303.592.4077.
CTA founder honored by Governor Hickenlooper at APEX Conference
We celebrated CTA's 20th anniversary during a special luncheon at the APEX Conference. Speakers took a look back at 20 years of innovation and growth through the lenses of collaboration, partnership, education and what it will take to fuel the future. In addition, CTA’s founder, Bob Newman, was honored through a gubernatorial proclamation of November 20th as “Bob Newman Day.”  The Denver Post’s new tech reporter, Tamara Chuang, captured the essence of the event in a nice story. Read it here.

Requesting input for policy priorities
As CTA prepares for the upcoming legislative session, we are working on prioritizing our policy goals. Our priorities are driven by our membership, so we’d love to hear your thoughts on the policy issues that are most pressing for your company this year. This is your chance to contribute directly to our actions during the 2015 legislative session. If you have not done so yet, please complete this 5-minute survey at your earliest convenience.

Colorado Community Profile

Dan Caruso, Co-Founder, Chairman & CEO of Zayo Group
With a long history of start-up leadership and strategic innovation for companies like ICG Communications, New Global Telecom, GTS Central Europe and Level 3 Communications, Dan Caruso currently oversees Onvoy Voice Services, Zayo Enterprise Networks, and Zayo Professional Services as the President and CEO of Zayo Group.

Active in the greater Denver metro community, Caruso is a partner with the Denver School of Science and Technology, a network of public charter schools focusing on science, technology, engineering and math. He is also on the Entrepreneurship Initiative Advisory Board of Silicon Flatirons, a center for law, technology, and entrepreneurship at the University of Colorado, and is a board member of Startup Colorado. In 2014, Dan was named to the Global Telecoms Business Power 100 and was awarded the Bob Newman Lifetime Achievement Award by the Colorado Technology Association.

CTA’s recent APEX Conference featured Dan in a fireside chat alongside Imran Khan, Managing Director at Credit Suisse. Together they offered invaluable insight into exploring the climate for technology IPOs on both global and local scales. Caruso led Zayo Group to the public market in October 2014, localizing the conversation with a Colorado perspective. Dan was recently announced as the Blackstone Entrepreneur Group steering committee chairman for 2015. CTA thanks Dan for his leadership!

Happy Holidays!

As 2014 comes to an end, we could not be more excited for the future of technology in Colorado!  Last year, we committed to “fueling Colorado’s economy through technology” and are excited to see technology and IT – leading the growth across many industries in the state.

Looking into 2015, the time to collaborate and broaden the engagement of technology could not be more important.

Colorado is leading the U.S. in many categories – and broadening the engagement of technology will help us all further accelerate.

So what can you do to help as you look into to 2015?
