STEMworks is Colorado’s source for high-quality STEM education programs. Each program in STEMworks has been independently vetted and cleared a very high bar for quality. WestEd, an independent nonprofit research organization, has reviewed each program against CTEq's Design Principles for Effective STEM Philanthropy and an accompanying Rubric. Business leaders, funders and STEM advocates from across the nation use STEMworks to find proven and highly-scalable STEM education programs to help them maximize their impact on STEM education.
In January 2015, a new partnership among Colorado Education Initiative (CEI), Colorado Technology Association (CTA), and Change the Equation (CTEq) collaborated to launch the Colorado STEMworks program to identify and promote effective science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education programs. This project resulted in a robust database of 17 effective pK-12 STEM programs across Colorado who are also recognized nationally. This project is designed to promote and expand impactful, scalable and sustainable STEM programs here in Colorado.
In November, President Obama publicly praised Change the Equation members and STEMworks for improving STEM learning for students nationwide. In 2014, STEMworks programs:
• Received $24 million in financial support from Change the Equation members
• Reached roughly 330,000 more young people with this support
