Green House Data Keeps it Cool in WY, Announces Plan for $35 Million Data Center Expansion CHEYENNE,
WY – Green House Data, Wyoming’s first multi-tenant data center offering cloud
hosting and colocation services, announced today plans to build a second data
center in the state — expanding its footprint by 25,000 square feet to meet the
growing customer demand for energy efficient IT infrastructure. The additional
high-density data center space will more than double the company’s current size
and grow the power capacity to 4.5 megawatts.
The
new Tier 3, concurrently maintainable data center will contain the latest
technologies for energy efficiency. The company is predicting an average annual
PUE of 1.16, with a peak of PUE 1.22, ratings that are 75% more efficient than
the typical data center. To achieve this optimal operational efficiency, the data
center design will include:
·
Modular data center design
·
100% renewable energy power
·
Free cooling, utilizing indirect / direct
evaporative cooling
·
No refrigerant based cooling on the data center
floor
·
Hot aisle/cold aisle containment
·
Flywheel UPS and diesel backup generator
"Wyoming
offers many benefits to support high tech companies like ours,” stated Shawn
Mills, President of Green House Data. "The State and local economic development
agencies have provided immense support to encourage our business to expand in
Wyoming.”
The
company specifically chose to continue its development in Wyoming due to both
client demand and the progressive economic incentives offered by the state of
Wyoming. For this project, Green House Data has partnered with organizations
such as Cheyenne LEADS and the Wyoming Business Council, which have both been
instrumental to the success of the initial facility as well as the development
of the new data center.
"I
speak regularly about the potential for the data center industry in Wyoming and
Green House Data is proof that there is more than potential, there are real
advantages to operating a data center here,” Governor Matt Mead said. "I am
pleased the state was able to support this company and that after a thorough
review of locations Wyoming remained the best fit for this new data center.”
The
new building will be located in Cheyenne, WY only feet from their corporate
headquarters. Wyoming offers the company cool annual temperatures and lower
than average humidity, optimal conditions for the 100% free cooling to be
utilized within the new facility. Additionally, the state offers high bandwidth
availability, lower propensity to natural disaster, attractive real estate and
labor rates and plentiful renewable energy.
"It
is exciting to see the growth and progress Green House Data has made in just a
few short years,” stated Bob Jensen, CEO of the Wyoming Business Council.
"Having another ‘home grown’ data center success in Wyoming speaks volumes
about the environment here for data centers and other digital industry
companies to thrive in our state.”
"Green
House Data is a true entrepreneurial company that we have watched – and worked
with – for the past several years. They have grown steadily and carefully and
now list an amazing assortment of local and high-profile national clients. This
next step is a big one for them and really for data centers in Wyoming. We are
very pleased to have Greenhouse Data thriving and expanding in the Cheyenne
Business Parkway,” added Randy Bruns, CEO at Cheyenne LEADS.
The
expected completion date for the new data center is set for the first quarter
of 2013, completing the first phase of Green House Data’s Wyoming expansion
plan. At full capacity, this expansion plan could total 50,000 square feet.
