OptTek Receives $750,000 Federal Award To Develop Optimization Technologies Missile Defense Agency Grants Phase II Small Business Innovative Research Award
OptTek
Systems, Inc., was awarded a Phase II Small Business Innovative
Research (SBIR) contract by the United States Missile Defense Agency to
develop optimization methods and enabling software for simulation
modeling. Simulation models are available to formulate and analyze a
wide variety of military, government, and commercial problems. OptTek
will create an optimization and analysis toolkit, "OptDef,” to provide
MDA a capability to optimize Ballistic Missile Defense systems—a
capability that will enable MDA to answer credibly not only "what if?”,
but also "what’s best?” and "why this and not that?”
The OptDef
technology is expected to enhance MDA’s current suite of modeling and
simulation frameworks. OptDef will build on proven OptTek-proprietary
technologies in simulation optimization that will leverage MDA’s
investment in BMDS-level performance tools and will seamlessly integrate
with MDA simulation systems without modifying or affecting the
simulation systems in any way. The total value of the Phase II award is
$750,000 over twenty four months.
