COLORADO HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES VOTES IN SUPPORT OF NEW TAXES ON SOFTWARE IN COLORADO

The Colorado House of Representatives unfortunately voted to pass HB1192 on third reading Monday, so the bill moves to the Senate.   With a 35/30 vote in support, there is no question that our industry will be detrimentally impacted, but there‚Äôs also no question that all of the emails and phone calls and correspondence has had impact.  Letters were read from the floor; representatives discussed that the only emails they have received from constituents have asked to oppose.

So now we need to ask you to increase your communications now to the Senate.  Remember, under this bill, every company could be required to assess all of the software every Colorado employee uses, determine if sales tax were paid at the initial sale, and then if not, pay a use tax on every piece of software for every Colorado employee, even if the employee works in Colorado one day.  Learn how to make a difference in just two minutes and make sure the IT voice is heard >>
