Colorado Technology Association welcomes three new members of the Board of Directors

Board additions further elevate the Association with global technology companies

 

DENVER (April 13, 2016) – Colorado Technology Association (CTA) recently elected three new members to its Board of Directors. With the vision of the board representing more than half of the IT employees in Colorado, these individuals represent significant employers in the technology industry. Of the 23 Fortune 1,000 companies in Colorado, five are represented on CTA’s Board of Directors.

“CTA is honored to welcome these three executives to our board of directors. They represent some of the best leaders in Colorado,” said Molly Rauzi, Nominating Chair for CTA and CTO of Gagen MacDonald. “These individuals will add expertise and knowledge to the organization during a time of rapid growth for the technology industry in Colorado.  We are looking forward to their leadership.”

Incoming board members include:

Frances Matthews, Enterprise Sales Unit Executive - IBM
Frances Matthews is the IBM Senior Location Executive for Denver and Colorado Springs. As the sales leader for the five state region, she and her team are responsible for growing the IBM portfolio within the territory. Frances has held various technology sales roles for over 20 years, spending the last 10 years managing high performance teams at IBM.   

Having a passion for working with young people, Frannie regularly teaches high school level Junior Achievement courses and works with University of Colorado students through the Leeds School of Business Professional Mentoring Program.  Additionally, she has served on the Board of the University of Colorado Anschutz Wellness Center.  

John Swieringa, Executive Vice President, Operations - DISH
As Executive Vice President of Operations, John Swieringa oversees DISH’s In-Home Services organization, which conducts residential and commercial installations, as well as DISH’s customer service and billing, and Information Technology. Additionally, he oversees Manufacturing, which performs equipment retrieval and refurbishment.

John joined DISH in 2007 and was most recently responsible for enterprise information technology strategy and operations as the company’s Chief Information Officer. CTA named John 2015 CIO of the Year, and he was additionally recognized in the Denver Business Journal's 2015 Forty Under 40 list. John earned his Bachelor’s degree from Bucknell University and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Denver's Daniels College of Business.

Robert Urwiler, Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer – Vail Resorts
Robert joined Vail Resorts as Chief Information Officer in August 2006. Prior to joining Vail Resorts, Robert was Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Macromedia. From 1999-2002, he was Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Peregrine Systems. Prior to Peregrine Systems, Robert served in IT and software development leadership roles at Scientific-Atlanta and Sprint and was a Management Consultant at Price Waterhouse.

Vail Resorts was recently named among the world’s 50 Most Innovative Companies for 2016 by Fast Company.   Vail Resorts is also the proud recipient of 2009 and 2011 CIO 100 awards for technology innovation and 2011 and 2012 InformationWeek 500 “top 10” awards.  Urwiler has been a supporter of and involved with CTA as a Celebrity at its largest annual fundraiser, C-Level @ A Mile High, for the event’s ten years of existence.
