Denver-based PEAK Resources, Inc. Presented with ‘2015 Small Business Partner of the Year’ from Denver Public Schools Foundation

Award recognizes PEAK Resources for outstanding work in supporting Denver Public School Fairview Elementary

Denver, CO - April 22, 2015 - PEAK Resources, a Denver-based systems integrator specializing in providing technical expertise, design and system integration, announced today that the company has been named Denver Public Schools Foundation’s 2015 Small Business Partner of the Year. While PEAK Resources has supported several DPS schools for the past three years, the award given to them at the Denver Public Schools Foundation’s 2015 Achieve Gala last night was specifically for its work in supporting Fairview Elementary School.
“PEAK is honored to be recognized as Denver Public Schools Foundation’s 2015 Small Business Partner of the Year Award,” said Tom Brinegar, vice president, PEAK Resources, who accepted the award on behalf of PEAK. “While we love our work with all of our Partner schools, including Fairview Elementary, this award validates the many hours our employees have spent volunteering their time to be a true partner with this neighborhood school and truly make a difference in these students’ lives. PEAK Resources is proud to continue to partner with DPS with our time and monetary contributions.”
PEAK Resources volunteers time and money to Fairview Elementary, located in the Sun Valley neighborhood and not far from PEAK’s headquarters, which operates one of DPS’ longest operating school gardens, being in existence for approximately 15 years. The Fairview Garden is a centerpiece for the school and provides its students and community with a number of positive features, including: food and nutrition education, a source of fresh produce in an area otherwise known as a food desert, opportunities for students to learn and take responsibility, and an important community gathering place.  PEAK provided 12 volunteers (over 25% of the company) on several occasions and a significant donation of tools and materials – fencing, shovels, hoses, hoes, rakes, clippers, etc. – to help get the garden ready for students and planting in the summer and fall.
Denver Public Schools Foundation presented three awards at the 2015 Achieve Gala, one in each of the following categories:

  • Legacy Partner of the Year: School Partners with an overall, robust partnership with a DPS School.
  • Small Business Partner of the Year: School Partners that have less than 100 employees in the Denver metro area and have a robust Partnership with a DPS School.
  • CTE Partner of the Year: School Partners that have participated specifically in Career and Technical Education activities with a DPS school or multiple DPS schools.
Winners were chosen through a nomination process and panel of judges comprised of representatives from the Denver Public Schools Foundation, Denver Public Schools and Mile High United Way selected the winners.
