Colorado Technology Association announces new board leadership for 2015
Denver, CO (February 17, 2015) – The Colorado Technology Association (CTA) is pleased to announce new board leadership for 2015. Steve Foster, chief operating officer at GTRI, will lead the organization as board chair in 2015 and Michael Marcotte, founder of Acumen Digital and former chief information officer at EchoStar, was named chair elect.
Steve is currently in multiple executive leadership roles in the Colorado technology ecosystem. He is the chief operating officer of Global Technology Resources, Inc. (GTRI) and serves as a board of directors member and founders seat of Convercent, a SaaS GRC/solutions provider. Prior to taking on this operational role, Steve was a member of GTRI’s board of advisors. Steve oversees daily operations, sales and business development, professional services, and IT security for GTRI. The company has evolved from selling computer hardware at its inception to offering cloud, mobility and information security consulting services nationwide. The company is noted for its award-winning, industry-leading services, as well as its strategic partnerships developed to deliver cutting-edge technologies across multiple industries.
Steve is also the chief executive officer and founder of Connect13, LLC; an advisory firm focused on driving energy and passion around strategic business growth for companies within the technology ecosystem. As a respected and experienced expert, Steve provides companies leadership in all areas of business operations, branding, client relationships and revenue generation regarding product and service offerings. He is also a member of Colorado Concern, an exclusive alliance of top executives with a common interest in enhancing and protecting the Centennial State's business climate. Steve’s primary focus has been fostering growth and opportunity in Colorado's technology industry.
Steve has played a pivotal role in Denver over the last 20 years both in the technology industry and non-profit world working towards the betterment and growth for all involved.
In addition to Foster’s leadership in 2015, the CTA board has elected Michael Marcotte to serve as chair elect of CTA’s board to take over the chairmanship in 2016. Michael is a well-known Colorado-based business and technology leader who was formerly the global chief digital officer for DISH/EchoStar. He is among a select group of Fortune 200 recognized global technology and business innovation leaders known for solving highly complex information technology organizational delivery challenges.
Michael’s leadership experience includes executive roles in general management and technology for Ball Corporation, DISH Network, Cendant, MCA Universal, Systems Partners, Hyatt, Hilton, and numerous other Fortune 500 firms. His most recent accomplishment is the launch of a new cloud services organization, acumen digital, which provides comprehensive customer facing software solutions. Acumen digital’s innovation-focused solution centers are located in Denver and Boulder in partnership with Galvanize and gSchool.
Michael is a recognized expert in cloud, security; security threats and assessments; rapid internet application development; big data analytics; and full suite ERP/CRM systems including Oracle, PeopleSoft, JD Edwards, SAP, and their CRM systems including Siebel, Onyx and Clarify. Michael has received multiple awards and recognition from NASA and the U.S. Air Force, and he is a three-time finalist for the Colorado large enterprise CIO/CTO of the year award. In 2010 he was named to Denver Business Journal’s “40 Under 40.”
