BBB & ILLUMEN join forces to raise funds for new Technology Education Scholarship
Denver, CO, August 26, 2014 - The BBB Foundation and Denver IT Managed Service provider, ILLUMEN, are working together on reducing some of the burden of college tuition for an economically disadvantaged Colorado teen with aspirations for studies in the technology field. A fundraising appeal is being made to Denver businesses and individuals. Called "The BBB/ILLUMEN Student of Integrity Technology Education Scholarship," this $10,000 award will be given to a high school senior in Colorado with financial need, who has demonstrated character, leadership and ethical values and who will be studying science or engineering in a college program. Students will undergo an application process and interview if chosen as a finalist. The winner will be honored at the Torch Awards dinner at the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel on October 30, 2014. Su Hawk, president and CEO for the BBB of Denver/Boulder added "this new scholarship is a wonderful addition to the host of scholarships we seek to reward students with this year. Having a partner like ILLUMEN to advance students who aspire to have careers in the science and engineering industry is tremendous."
"ILLUMEN is thrilled to develop this scholarship and support the future of science and technology. We were so inspired by the other scholarship programs the BBB Foundation offers. We saw a need in the technology area and stepped up to the plate to make this dream a reality for a deserving teen. It is a pleasure to support our industry and give back to our community," stated Mike Jenner, CEO. ILLUMEN will match any donation to this scholarship fund and is reaching out to the Front Range community for additional donations to this cause. As Denver continues to be a growing technology hub for the West, this scholarship will help a deserving teen get the education needed to land a position in the technology field. The scholarship gives back to the community and then introduces a bright, educated and skilled person into the workforce. All contributions are tax-deductible. Donors will also receive recognition on the BBB's website and event sponsorship materials.
