In an Aug. 28, 2012, digitaltrends.com published an article on smartphone trends. According to the article, smartphones are expected to account for approximately 54% of global cellphone sales in 2013. People are increasingly turning to mobile devices to accomplish the same tasks they could only do on desktop screens before. One of these tasks is mobile web meetings and online meetings. Unlike a laptop, a smartphone or tablet is truly mobile. This means it can be used literally anywhere there is network coverage, or more importantly, internet provision. Traveling executives can easily use their mobile gadgets to conference with their colleagues in a different country or even continent. There are different mobile web conferencing applications that make this possible. With the right app, users can invite participants to join a conference, view presentations, exchange messages with other participants and even select emoticons. Pulling out a smartphone or a laptop is more convenient than using a laptop, and their screens are easier to read from than the tiny screens of normal cellphones. In addition, their batteries tend to last longer than laptop batteries. For mobile conferencing to be really effective within an organization, a convenient number of employees and employers should have the systems. In fact, with the right type of mobile device, one can even work from anywhere. With a tablet or a smartphone, the office isn’t the only workplace people can work from. Coffee shops, parks, trains, airplanes and other public places make convenient workplaces as long as one has a mobile device. There are even thousands of apps that have been developed for those who wish to telecommute via their gadgets. Those who wish to work from any location using their mobile devices should first ensure that they are well prepared for the task. For example, battery can be an issue so spare batteries and travel chargers are necessary. A solar powered charger can also come in handy when all things fail. To avoid unnecessary interruptions, it is prudent to select a quite working area. For somebody who wishes to engage in collaborative meetings, a corner table at a coffee shop, for example, can be more convenient than the one next to the door. Thousands of apps are available to make all these (working from anywhere and in particular web conferencing) easy. There are applications for storing files, for organizing meetings and even for managing contacts. With a good mobile device, it is possible to work effectively from any place in the world.
