Jim Franklin, CEO of Send Grid Wins 2012 Technology Community Connector of the year for the Colorado Technology Association Apex Awards
Franklin receives recognition at the 12th annual Apex Awards in Denver to sold out crowd
DENVER – October 25, 2012 – SendGrid CEO Jim Franklin was announced the winner of Colorado’s top Technology Community Connector of the year, along with Delta Dental of Colorado at last night’s 2012 Apex Awards, the prestigious technology awards recognizing outstanding accomplishments and leadership by Colorado’s advanced technology companies and professionals.
The winner was announced live at a sold out event at the Sheraton Ball Room in downtown Denver to a crowd of more than 800 attendees.
The Technology Community Connector of the year award recognizes the significant hurdles that exist for new companies when it comes to securing their first reference customer. This award recognizes the company and individual who has supported these early stage endeavors through mentoring, or by being the first reference customer.
Jim Franklin currently serves as CEO of SendGrid, a Boulder-based technology company providing cloud-based transactional email infrastructure services to some of the world’s largest web applications, including Pinterest, Spotify and foursquare. Jim is active on a number of Denver area business, investment, startup & entrepreneurship fronts, sitting on the boards of Precog, AWhere, the Denver Software Club and the Rockies Venture Club and serving as a mentor for The Founder Institute and TechStars.
Since the Apex Award’s inception in 2000, CTA’s Apex Awards have acknowledged the top technology success stories produced in Colorado.
"I’m honored to receive this recognition from the Colorado Technology Association,” said Jim Franklin, CEO, SendGrid. "At SendGrid, we interact with thousands of founding teams and entrepreneurs working on building the next big innovation. We know how difficult it can be to land early customer references, and I keep that in mind throughout my work with the local technology and entrepreneur community.”
"It goes without saying that without your first customer, it is impossible to be successful,” said Steve Foster, President and CEO, Colorado Technology Association. "The purpose of the Technology Community Connector Apex Award is to recognize the importance of the companies and individuals that take a risk in being that first reference company to help startups become successful and thrive. Colorado is a state that supports its startups and we wanted to recognize Jim for his help in this area.” Foster concluded.
