The School Board and the leadership team of STEM School and Academy are pleased to announcethat Dr. Penny Eucker will be joining STEM as the Executive Director and High School Principal as ofSeptember 7.
Dr. Eucker is excited to join the leadership team at STEM School and Academy: "A healthy schoolcombines deep respect for the craft of teaching, provides a safe work place for risk taking, connects tothe real world, celebrates success, and challenges students to take responsibility for their learning."
Matt Smith, chairman of the STEM Board, believes that Dr. Eucker "brings the experience, knowledgeand leadership that can develop the professional staff and the school and academy capabilities that willmake STEM a flagship organization with unique, relevant and exceptional student outcomes in a globallycompetitive 21st century world."
Dr. Eucker's educational background includes a doctorate in Education Leadership and Innovation, anda masters in Curriculum and Instruction, both from the University of Colorado, School of Education. Sheholds a Bachelors of Science in Geology from the University of Georgia, and was a Fellow for theNational Academy for Science and Mathematics.
Her award winning work in Adams 12 includes some of the highest academic growth scores for studentsand the highest teacher satisfaction scores of any school in the District. She was a member of theoriginal team to develop the Colorado statewide science standards, presents regularly at state andnational conferences, and has published several papers focused on assessment and standards.
Her volunteer efforts include seven years with Denver Kids, helping at-risk students, and significant workwith the Children's Museum program for students in public housing. She has also volunteered for theNational Sports Center for the Disabled, numerous science programs encouraging girls to take on thesciences, and much more.
Penny is a Colorado licensed Administrator, Principal and Secondary Science Teacher. She most recentlyserved as the principal of the STEM Magnet Lab School in Adams 12 and supported the development ofa sister school to accommodate the tremendous community interest and student wait list.
