- a TechHire Series Program

 

Software developers are in high demand in Colorado, but what distinguishes software developers at startups from enterprise companies? How do Ruby on Rails developers compare with Java developers? What separates software application developers from software systems systems developers?


This informative panel will feature five software developers from a variety of backgrounds, including graduates of the Galvanize and Turing programs. It will explore the variance within the software development field and provide an occupational overview.

Bill Delude, Senior Consultant, Aspenware


Bill has been developing software professionally for over 20 years. He’s a Microsoft Certified Developer and has worked at companies like JD Edwards, Oracle, RelayHealth,and now Aspenware. He has a passion for finding creative, elegant solutions, and teaching people how to do the same.

 

 

 

 


 

     

Alex Robinson, Software Developer, QuickLeft

 Alex began her career as a mechanical engineer in the HVAC industry. Working first in product design, then as a program manager, coordinating engineering productivity projects across the US, China, and Mexico. After ditching the manufacturing plants and steel toe boots, Alex made the transition to Software Development. She recently graduated from Turing School of Software and Design and now works as a developer at Quick Left in Boulder.


 

  

 Ashley Clarke, Full Stack Developer, Brandfolder

A Denver native, Ashley attended college in Portland, Oregon and then went to CU - Denver and studied Philosophy before leaving school to work at a local startup.  Ashley graduated with Galvanize's g[3] cohort in late November, 2014, and took a job with Brandfolder, another local startup and Techstars company, in February as a Full Stack Ruby on Rails developer. 

 

 

 

 

    

 Joe Graham, Software Engineer, Recondo Technology

Joseph Graham is a Software Engineer at Recondo Technology, located in the Denver Technology Center. Here he works on the PRS (Payer Resolution System) team writing and maintaining ReconBots that provide payer resolution to healthcare providers. Prior to working at Recondo Technology, Joseph attended Regis University in Denver, Colorado where he studied Computer Science as well as worked as a web design contractor.  Joseph graduated from Regis University in May of 2013.

 

 

 

 

Brian Rook, Software Engineering Manager, HomeAdvisor 

 Brian Rook joined HomeAdvisor in 2014. Rook has over 15 years of professional software development experience and is passionate about computer sciences and biology. As HomeAdvisor’s Software Engineering Manager, Rook creates superior software development teams by collaboratively defining agile processes, documenting best practices, and ensuring quality through risk-defined test methodologies. A Colorado native, Rook graduated from the University of Colorado with extensive software engineering experience and previously worked for Blackhawk Network as Principal Software Engineer and StoneRiver as an Enterprise Architect.

The event is part of a new CTA TechHire series exploring critical topics in talent development for STEM careers.The TechHire series will run year-round, offering a rotation of occupation deep dives, small recruiting fairs and training and education programs on the second Wednesday of every month.
