Creating a Winning IT Project and Team:  Lessons learned from Pixorial

In early 2012, Google approached Pixorial to be an integrated launch partner for its highly anticipated cloud storage and collaboration service, Google Drive.

Google’s goal?   To help Pixorial store anything and everything to help them move beyond simple storage.

The integration with Google Drive aligned perfectly with Pixorial’s goals.

The CEO of Pixorial will share his company's experience on creating a winning project team that was focused on ensuring a successful integration of Google Drive.

Speakers

Andrés Espiñeira Founder and CEO
Andrés is the founding CEO and visionary behind Pixorial. An entrepreneur with a strong background in product strategy, marking and software development, Andrés founded Pixorial with a simple, yet ambitious mission: to liberate all of the world's video and make video memories easy to access, share and enjoy.
Andrés honed his technical skills during his early career at Oracle Corporation, managing the engineering team responsible for the rollout of Oracle 7 on UNIX platforms, and still enjoys humbling the youngsters with his coding skills. Andrés spent four years in management at Internet pioneer Netscape Communications, where he played a leading role in shaping Netscape's initial electronic commerce product strategy. After Netscape, Andrés was Vice President of Marketing of Open Grid, Inc., helping to secure a $19M round of funding for the company's wireless Internet solutions aimed at Fortune 100 companies.
After a short-lived early retirement and a sail across the Atlantic Ocean with his father, Andrés turned to entrepreneurship, which allows him to leverage his technical savvy along with his product strategy, marketing and software development experience. Andrés has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and a Master in Management from the Kellogg School of Business at Northwestern University.

John Martyniak Senior Vice President of Product Development & Operations
As Senior VP of Product Development & Operations, John successfully manages Pixorial’s Product Development & Operations staff while providing hands-on guidance for strategic hardware and software solutions. John's technological experience and vision, coupled with his strong leadership ability, is an immense asset to the Pixorial team.
John has participated in the processes of numerous software development teams, and has proven to be an expert in designing and implementing software applications, web services, content management systems (CMS) and Internet portals. He has designed and developed components using Java (J2EE), WebObjects, Teamsite, Documentum, Webtrends, Google Analytics, Oracle Application Servers, Oracle Databases, IBM Websphere, ASP .NET, and SQL Server, among others.
John's career spans more than two decades with key roles in global Fortune 500 companies, including roles at both Disney and Canon USA. While at Disney, John served as the Project Lead and Producer of the Disneyland, Disney Channel, and Walt Disney home video sites. In addition, in conjunction with Walt Disney Imagineering, he participated in the exploration of the implementation of Disney technology and branding into early stage set-top boxes. John also had the opportunity to collaborate on Disney game development and video distribution.
Just prior to Pixorial, at CANON USA, John helped define and implement the Webtrends Web Analytics System for all Canon USA websites. John was also the Project Lead for the Canon USA Internet marketing site, which included 10,000+ pages of dynamic content, and he assisted with the definition and selection of the new Canon USA Customer Support System.
