Talent Pool Development (Eduction) Committee will be both a forum for insight and perspectives, as well as provide opportunities for members to be involved in key priorities for the organization’s STEM education initiatives. We’ll generally meet each month on the fourth Friday from 3:00pm – 4:30pm (some exceptions apply based on holiday weekends).
Our guest speaker for the September 23, 2011 meeting is Kellie Lauth, representing STEM from Adams 12, the largest district in one of our largest counties. Her team is blazing a new trail, one being followed closely by various K-12 stakeholders across the country, as they are rolling out a deep STEM program at elementary and middle school levels, something that has not been tried before. They are implementing some very exciting instructional practices, and feature a heavy industry presence in their curriculum development, including interaction with some Technology Association members (such as Brian Vickery of Mantis-TGI), and members of other industry groups such as one of our neighboring associaions, the Colorado Bioscience Association.
Each month, we’ll invite a guest speaker to provide our members with interesting perspectives, and we’ll discuss other opportunities for your involvement in initiatives including timely opportunities around signature events (such as identifying nominees for the annual Top Tech Teacher of the Year award), invitations to serve as an advisor for curriculum review, and other initiatives where your voluntary involvement is welcomed if you wish.
No matter if you want to become involved in our initiatives, or simply want to attend meetings to garner perspectives, we welcome your involvement. If you are an employee of a member company, please know that committees are always open to you, and there is never a cost to participate in any committee.
We invite you to check out our Talent Pool Development (Education) Committee this month, or in future months. Please RSVP above, so we know how many to expect.
Thank you to Ash Mahajan, Devry; and Kevin Keelan, CIBER who are our Committee Co-Chairs this year, and for carrying on the great interests on behalf of our members.
